Welcome to The Green Blossom Kitchen!
We are Jess and Cecelia; two passionate, creative, and fun loving foodies who also happen to be dietitians by day to pay the bills. As we surround ourselves with all things food all the time, what we've most noticed about the topic of nutrition is that everyone has a different definition of "healthy" eating and that people are always looking for a quick fix or new magic food. But really, it comes down to simplicity; we believe based on our training and experiences that eating plant based and minimally processed foods is not only the most beneficial to our bodies and the Earth but also feasible, affordable and delicious. So please come with us on our journey to make the world a healthier, happier place one plant based recipe at a time.

About Our Site
Since providing plant based recipes is our mission, our recipes are front and center on the Home page of our site. We post a new recipe just about every week and try to use seasonal ingredients as much as possible. Most posts include not only a recipe but some brief education about a certain food or nutrition topic (we are dietitians!). Ten weeks of recipes will be visible on the Home page but you can always find old recipes and recipes by category using the Recipes tab. All recipes are given a category for type of food/meal (breakfast, lunch/dinner, snacks etc.) and a level for degree of difficulty ranging from level one to level three chef (yes, you are a chef too!). You can also Contact us via email or Subscribe to our email updates (about every 3-4 months) via those tabs to keep in touch. Also under Services we have some unique offerings if you need more TGBK in your life so be sure to check those out! Finally, we plan to include more nutrition information through Articles for you nutrition nerds just like us so stay tuned!

About Us

Jess’s love for the kitchen all started 15 years ago with a pan of herb and garlic roasted potatoes! In Jess’s house her dad was “famous” for this dish and the day he taught Jess his recipe was the day Jess began her adventures in the kitchen. Jess became even more interested in cooking, baking, and recipe modification while she was vegan. There were many recipes available for vegetarians, however, vegan recipes were a bit harder to come by. This is what sparked Jess’s interest in experimental baking and cooking. The more Jess experimented in the kitchen, the larger her tried and true recipes binder got. Jess loves to share her baked goods with friends and family - when multiple people would ask for her recipes she realized she needed to have a creative outlet to share her thoughts and recipes….the blog was born! Cooking, baking, and everything related to the kitchen is Jess’s happy place so please join in on this joy and endless creativity she would like to share with you.

Interestingly, Cecelia’s mother is also a dietitian. This sparked Cecelia’s interest in food, where food comes from, and how it relates to health at a young age. Specifically she would wonder about animal sources of foods and ask multiple questions at the dinner table, much to her parents’ dismay, including “what animal did this come from?” and “why?”. And it didn’t stop there. She found an interest in food labels and liked to look for unpronounceable ingredients and again ask “what?” and “why?” - very valid questions and still things that we should all be asking about our food every day. This interest naturally led to the path of studying nutrition science in college and experimenting with foods along the way. Though the more Cecelia learned about nutrition the more flaws she began to see within the industry. Modern diets have turned food from something that nourishes and sustains life to a business of supply and demand to satisfy cravings, and not a sustainable business for human health or the environment. She realized how important it is to understand where our food comes from and what its purpose is in our bodies to encourage a change in food habits and culture. And thus her lifestyle of local, plant based eating was born along with her passion to share this information and delicious plant based recipes with others. She is so glad that you are now a part of her plant based food journey!
